The super storm may have come and gone, but several northeast Ohio agencies that provide food for those in need are still feeling the effects.
The Cleveland Food Bank is a lot busier weeks after Super Storm Sandy slammed many areas in northeast Ohio. It's making a tough situation even more difficult for many agencies that provide food for people.
"You're already having a hard time getting by and then you loose all the food in your refrigerator. You loose all the food in your freezer and you know that's something you don't plan for in your budget," says Kristen Warzocha of the Cleveland Food Bank.
The Cleveland Food Bank provides food and support to 650 programs in a six county area. Several of those agencies they help out need even more help because of the storm.
"About 15 of them either lost power themselves because of the storm or simply have seen an increase in the number of clients turning to them for help," says Warzocha.
The Cleveland Food Bank has a new help center. People can call in and get referred to hunger centers in their neighborhood, and if you qualify you can get food stamps. You can also call to get a list of locations serving Thanksgiving meals.
"So that really makes things easier and can give them an even better source of food for their family," says Warzocha.
