ERIE COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

A 20-year-old woman accused of abusing her baby so badly that the baby is now paralyzed and potentially blind.

Daphne Waters is charged with felonious assault and child endangering for abusing her 6-month-old daughter.

The Erie County Sheriff tells 19 Action News they have been investigating since August, when the baby was first brought to a Sandusky hospital and showed signs of abuse. The little girl was bleeding in areas of her brain, had a broken rib and femur. She also had a possibly detached retina.

The baby has since been released from the hospital, and is in the custody of her grandmother. The baby is paralyzed and is potentially blind.

A child abuse specialist ruled the baby girl's injuries are a result of the abuse.
