CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The Senior Games are coming to Cleveland next year and we've learned the Medical Mart project could help cover some of the costs.

The seniors aren't playing.  They're serious about competing in the 2012 Senior Games and the games that are coming to Cleveland in 2013.

"It's very exciting.  It's going to be first big event for our new convention center," said County Councilman Dan Brady.

District 3 County Councilman Dan Brady is looking forward to hosting the games.  The city of Cleveland is giving a half-million to encourage the games to come here.  The County Council is also considering ponying up another $500,000 to the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission to support the games.

"Why, $500,000? Why give any money to get somebody to come to Cleveland.  This event is really kick-starting what we hope will be a very successful convention center.  We believe this money is very well spent.  It will be a lot of return on this," said Brady.
