NORTH OLMSTED, OH (WOIO) -

From the family feast out the door to a retailer fueled, frenzied shopping fest.  Retailers and consumers alike are giving thanks for earlier shopping hours on Thanksgiving.

Black Friday is so yesterday.  More and more stores like Toys R Us, Sears, WalMart and Target are opening on Thursday.  They'll be lining up to get in at Toys R Us at 8 a.m. on Thanksgiving.

"It makes it doable. Get home. Go to bed.  Wake up next day and probably do more," said shopper Dawn Kensington at the North Olmsted Toys R Us.

There are so many consumers obsessed with Black Friday, or now, Thursday deals, that Brad Wilson of www.BradsDeals.com carved out a separate site just for Black Friday/Thanksgiving Thursday deals.  Wilson has more than 800,000 Facebook followers just on Black Friday alone.

"If you looked at all the days of the holiday shopping season last year, Thanksgiving Thursday had the highest year to year growth in retail growth.  40 percent, actually, and only a handful of stores were open.  Now the stores that weren't open want to get in on it", said Wilson.

Local economist John Burke says earlier hours on Thanksgiving signals an economy on the comeback.

"I think consumers are demanding it. They demand it with their dollars. If consumers didn't like this, they wouldn't be there when the doors open," said Burke.
