MENTOR, OH (WOIO) -

An off-duty Lake County Sheriff's Deputy restrains a repeat drunk driver.

It happened around 9:50 p.m. Friday on Tina Drive in Mentor.

Police tell 19 Action News Francis Grenon and his wife are in the process of getting a divorce. The judge signed a protection order forbidding Grenon from entering the family home or using the family van.

According to police, Grenon ignored the court order and entered the home Friday night. His wife's friend was inside the home, and told him to leave.

Grenon ignored her and grabbed some things and the car keys. He then drove the family van down the driveway and into the street.

The wife's friend called police and off-duty Deputy Dan Bachnicki, who was visiting a friend in the neighborhood.

When Grenon stopped the car in the street, Deputy Bachnicki confronted him and restrained him until Mentor police arrived.

Grenon is facing several charges including OVI, driving under suspension and violating a protection order. This is Grenon's 6th OVI arrest.
