91-year-old woman dies after being struck by van

WILLOUGHBY, OH (WOIO) -

Police say a 91-year-old woman dies after being struck by a van. The accident happened Thursday around 10:59 a.m. at 4860 Robinwood Drive.

The pedestrian was Willoughby resident Bertha J. Adams and the driver of the Dodge was Randall C. McCauley of Mentor.

McCauley was driving the Dodge west in the Willo Plaza Shopping Center driveway from Robinhood Drive. He turned right into the west parking lot of the Hantz Group and struck Adams. Witnesses stated Adams was walking west, with the assistance of her walker, while attempting to cross the same parking lot.

Adams was transported to Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby where she succumbed to injuries. McCauley was not injured.

The Willoughby Police Traffic Crash Investigation Unit continues to investigate this crash. Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected as a factor in this crash.
