PARMA, OH (WOIO) -

Parma Fire Department responded to a call of a working fire 5826 Ridge Rd at the Parma Theater Friday evening around 5pm.

Authorities say the fire was called in by the owner of the alteration store next door.

22 fire fighters from Parma along with four from Brooklyn and four from Parma Heights, quickly extinguished the fire that was contained in the lobby.  No injuries were reported.

The Parma Theater has been closed for about two months.

The theater opened in 1936 and is one of the oldest theaters in the area.  It closed on September 9, 2012.

Doug Turner with the Parma Fire Department says the cause is still under investigation.  The damage amount is estimated to be over $750 thousand.
