MENTOR, OH (WOIO) -
Mentor Police are investigating after a resident called reporting a deer had been shot on their property.
The call came from a resident on Hopkins Road. The resident had not given permission for participation in the city hunting program and had not given permission for anyone to enter their property during the hunting process.
The police department, in conjunction with the Ohio Division of Wildlife, investigated this situation and learned that Timothy Hejuk, who had permission to hunt on adjacent property, did trespass on the property without permission to retrieve the deer, which is a violation of state law.
Hejuk was cited and pled guilty in Mentor Court. Judge Trebets sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, forfeit the deer, 3 months probation and 5 days of volunteer work. Hejuk's City hunting privileges were revoked.
