CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

A burglar shot and killed early Wednesday morning has been identified.

Police say the Cleveland homeowner was asleep on the couch when he heard 43-year old David Fletcher kicking in the screen door.

It happened around 7:30 a.m. on Portage Avenue.

The homeowner got his gun and shot him as he was trying to get in.

Fletcher was pronounced dead at the scene.
