CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine is advising residents to be aware of a sex offender who has not registered his current address since 2010.

Nathaniel Thornton, 31, is a sexually oriented offender who was convicted of the rape of a juvenile male in 2001.

According to the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office, Thornton last registered his address in March 2010 as being on Lakeside Avenue in Cleveland, however investigators found that he was not living at that location.

Authorities issued a warrant for his arrest in October 2010 on a charge of Failure to Provide a Change of Address.

Thornton has several very distinctive tattoos including the image of a hand holding the world on his right shoulder, Chinese letters on his right forearm, a faded skeleton on his left forearm, and a teardrop by each eye.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Nathaniel Thornton should contact the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) at 855-BCI-OHIO (855-224-6446) or the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office.

As part of the Crimes Against Children Initiative, Attorney General DeWine will publicize convicted sex offenders who have victimized children and are wanted on outstanding warrants. Other parts of the initiative include the establishment of a Crimes Against Children Unit at BCI, creation of a rapid response team for crimes against children, and specialized law enforcement training through BCI and the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA).
