Browns beat rivals, snap 4-game Steeler streak

Posted: Updated:

So far so good in the Steeler rivalry for Jimmy Haslam.  The Browns defense turned in a supreme effort against Pittsburgh's third-string QB as they forced eight turnovers in their 20-14 win at the Stadium.  It was a horrific day for Charlie Batch, who was 20-of-34 for just 199 yards and three interceptions.

The victory for the Browns is just their second in 18 games against the Steelers.  Brandon Weeden was good enough, as he delivered on a nice touchdown throw to Jordan Cameron.  The rookie finished the day 17-of-26 for 158 yards.  The day got off to a bad start when Weeden's second pass of the day was intercepted by Lawrence Timmons.  The QB did have to leave the game in the fourth after sustaining a concussion.

Trent Richardson was bottled up for most of the day, but did break free for a 15 yard go-ahead score that put the Browns ahead for good.  He finished with 85 yards on 29 carries.  Phil Dawson played a key part in the win, as he connected on field goals from 28 and 32 yards, extending his streak to 27 made attempts in a row.

The Steelers' eight turnovers was the most in an NFL game since 2001.  Each team was flagged for 9 penalties in the sloppy game.  The Browns improve to 3-8 on the season.
