Local retailers are banking on early Christmas sales this season.

There are 26 days until Christmas, plenty of time to get your shopping done.  But, a lot of retailers started getting ready just before Halloween to get you in the holiday shopping mood early.

Is it too soon, or is it helping to give our local economy a boost?  "No I don't think it's too early.  I mean I'm pretty much done with my shopping," says shopper Leanne Born.

Kristina Strehle has a different opinion.  "I think they bring the stuff out too soon.  I think people should enjoy Halloween I think they should enjoy Thanksgiving."

At the South Park Mall in Strongsville officials tell us they're seeing signs of a good holiday season with plenty of people out and about shopping taking advantage of super sales.  "We had a very good pre holiday season leading into Thanksgiving.  The black Friday weekend was amazing," says Marketing Director Andy Selesnik.

Some good news, experts say nearly 70-percent of shoppers will spend more this Christmas season compared to last year.  One in three shoppers plan to spend more than five hundred dollars.  "Two thousand, I usually go with, we have a big family," says shopper Laura Paumier.

Those cha-chings are music to retailers ears.

So whether you think the holiday shopping season started too early, or on time, you can count on one thing, Santa will be around no matter what.
