The Kent State Golden Flashes' quest for a Mid-American Conference championship ended with a 44-37 double overtime loss to Northern Illinois Friday night in Detroit.

The Huskies quarterback Jordan Lynch was a one-man wrecking crew.  He threw for 212 yards and one touchdown and ran for 160 yards and three touchdowns.

Down 27-13 with 5:00 to play, Kent State rallied.  Quarterback Spencer Keith ran for a touchdown to cut the Huskies lead to 27-20.  On the first play from scrimmage for Northern Illinois, Zack Hitchens picked up a Lynch fumble and returned it 22 yards to tie the game at 27.

Each team would score again to send the game in overtime.  However, Jordan Lynch ran for the go-ahead touchdown in the second overtime.

Keith threw an interception on fourth down in the endzone to end the game.

Kent State now looks forward to their first bowl game in 40 years.
