Kmart employee slashed during attempted robbery

NORTH CANTON, OH (WOIO) -

On Saturday, December 1, at 6:43 P.M., the North Canton Police responded to a call reporting an attempted robbery at the Kmart located on N. Main St. in North Canton. 

It is reported that while one Kmart employee was outside retrieving shopping carts, he encountered a man demanding money and armed with a box cutter.  As the worker tried to get his wallet out, the suspect started slashing the employee's arms and chest.

Police say that the victim suffered minor cuts and that EMS treated him on the scene. 

Officers were unsuccessful in their attempt to locate the suspect.
