Victims robbed at gunpoint during terrifying North Canton home invasion

NORTH CANTON, OH (WOIO) -

An investigation is underway after a terrifying home invasion in North Canton.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. Monday on Applegrove Street NE.

The preliminary investigation reveals the front door to the apartment was kicked in and two suspects entered it both holding handguns on the victims. They ransacked the apartment, robbed the four victims of personal items and money.

The victims were accosted, but not injured. While in the back bedroom, one of the robbers fired a bullet into the ceiling. It is believed that semi-automatic handguns were used to threaten the victims. The robbers fled on foot with small amount cash and stolen items.

Officers searched the immediate area for the suspects with assistance from the Summit County Sheriff's Office who sent two K9 units to help track the suspects. At this time it appears, suspects for unknown reasons targeted the victim's apartment.

The descriptions of the robbers are:

  • One black male, 5'10" - 6'00" feet tall, heavy build or stocky, wearing all dark or black clothing, black baseball cap and hoodie.
  • One black male, 6'00" or taller, skinny, with facial hair (goatee), wearing all dark or black clothing, black baseball cap and hoodie.
