CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The family of Timothy Russell, the driver who led police on a chase that ended in shooting, is calling for justice.

"He was not a violent person and he didn't own a gun," said Michelle Russell, Tim Russell's sister.

The Russell family is upset and asking for justice after Tim Russell was shot and killed by police in a barrage of gunfire.  Police say he led them on a high speed chase from Cleveland to East Cleveland.

"He was unarmed and he was executed by police," said Michelle Russell.

Russell was in the front seat of an old Chevy with a friend, Malissa Williams who was also killed.

The Russell family never met Malissa but offered their condolences to her family.

"We believe in the power of prayer," said Michelle Russell.

The Police Union says the group of officers who gave chase claim they were doing their job after someone in the Chevy pointed a gun and shot at an officer in front of the Justice Center. The case is under investigation.

"The story being told by the union does not make sense to any of us," added Michelle Russell.

Family members will say goodbye to Timothy Russell on Saturday.

Visitation is set for Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, 9:00 - 11:00 AM at Sanctuary of Praise in Twinsburg.

Funeral services begin at 11:00 AM.
