CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

19 Action News has discovered that Cleveland police had just been trained for a scene like the end of last week's a long and deadly chase.  The chase ended with police shooting through the window of at least one patrol car.

Two people died in a hail of bullets.  137 shots were fired by 13 officers.

Some of the shots came through the windshield of at least one patrol car.  This comes just after training about shooting through the window.

19 Action News has also learned the Cleveland Police training this year included shooting from inside the car, unbuckling a seatbelt and grabbing a gun.  They learned the windshield won't shatter into pieces, and gunfire won't ricochet.

The training paperwork, provided by the chief's office, shows the technique can be used to respond to threats more quickly even give officers more cover for safety.  The training refers to officers being ambushed in their cars, something that has happened around the country.
