CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -
There were several heated moments at the Abyssinia Baptist Church during a community forum called by the Community Relations Board in conjunction with faith-based Leaders, civil rights organizations and community activists. They met with Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson, City of Cleveland Public Safety Director Martin Flask and Cleveland Police Chief Michael McGrath.
The community was there to voice their concerns regarding the baffling high speed police pursuit that ended with the shooting deaths of Timothy Ray Russell and Malissa Williams.
The pursuit has many asking why did 13 Cleveland officers fire 137 rounds into Russell's car and why was no weapon found in the vehicle since police claim they saw a weapon during the chase?
Family members demanded answers into what happened to their loved ones.
Officials have assured everyone that the city will provide full cooperation to all agencies conducting the investigation, that there will be an administrative review and that there will be transparency with sharing the findings of the review.
Another important purpose of the meeting was to explain the process that is in place to investigate the shooting and who has jurisdiction over the investigation, as well as review administrative policies and how the Cleveland Division of Police intends to keep the community updated.
Now that a full blown investigation is underway, Chief Michael McGrath along with Mayor Frank Jackson says they will get to the bottom of this ordeal.
