TJ Lane in court
GEAUGA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -
A motion to suppress statements made my TJ Lane to sheriff's deputies has been denied.
A Geauga County Common Pleas Court judge made the ruling Tuesday.
Lane's attorney's had asked that statements Lane made in the back of a police cruiser, after the Chardon High School shootings, be thrown out.
He is charged in the February 27 shooting at Chardon High School, which he has admitted to. 17-year-old Russell King, Jr., 16-year-old Daniel Parmertor and 16-year-old Demetrius Hewlin were killed. 17-year-old Nick Walczak is paralyzed from the waist down. 18-year-old Joy Rickers and a 6th, unidentified victim were treated and released from the hospital.
Lane's attorney has entered a not guilty by reason of insanity plea on his behalf.
His trial is scheduled to begin January 14, 2013.
