19 Action News is investigating the whereabouts of convicted former Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora.

Dimora is supposed to serve his sentence on federal bribery charges at a federal prison in North Carolina, but more than four months after his sentencing, he's still not there.

Dimora remains at the Youngstown prison where he has been since he was found guilty. This past summer, Dimora was found guilty on dozens of charges in a bribes for contracts scheme that went on for years. On July 31, Dimora was ordered to serve 28-years behind bars.

He was to serve his sentence at FCC Butner in North Carolina for their medical facilities. But according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons website, Dimora is not in their custody.

Officials with the Federal Bureau of Prisons tell 19 Action News it's not unusual for the U.S. Marshals Office to hold a prisoner until any issues are cleared up. The Marshals do contract with Youngstown's Northeast Ohio Correctional Center. That is where Jimmy remains.

Facilities like Youngstown hold inmates, such as Dimora, before they are transported over to a federal prison. We do know Dimora had a cancer scare in his throat since he's been locked up that he received medical treatment for earlier this year.

The U.S. Marshals say they are waiting for the federal prison system to designate him to a prison. The prison system says they have yet to hear from the U.S. Marshal's Office that Dimora needs a spot in prison.

So for now, Dimora is still in Ohio.
