AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

A 22-year-old Cleveland man arrested with a sawed off shotgun in his pants in Akron.

Shortly after 8 p.m. Friday night, officers stopped a man fitting the description of a robbery suspect at North Main Street and East Tallmadge Avenue.

When officers approached the man, identified as Matias R. Martin, they asked if he had anything illegal that could harm the officer. Martin said that he had a sawed off shotgun in his pants. Officers recovered a loaded, sawed off 12 gauge shotgun. Martin also had two additional shotgun shells in his pocket. He was immediately taken into custody.

Martin, 22, was charged with having a weapon under disability, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of an unlawful or dangerous ordinance. He was booked into the Summit County Jail.

After investigating, it was determined Martin was not involved in the robbery/shooting that occurred early at West Cuyahoga Falls Avenue and Shelby Avenue.
