NEWTOWN, CT (WFSB) -
Connecticut State Police told Eyewitness News that investigators continue to make progress two weeks after 20 children and six adults were shot and killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown.
Support has poured in, the victims were laid to rest, and the Newtown community is doing what it can to move forward.
"It's going to be a long road for our officers, for our community, for those victims, all those first responders," Newtown Police Chief Michael Kehoe previously told Eyewitness News. "But, there's enough efforts being put into place that I know we'll do some good, and we'll heal."
State police obtained warrants to search the car that suspected shooter Adam Lanza drove to the school as well as Lanza's nearby home. Those five warrants would have been available this upcoming Monday.
Now, Danbury Superior Court officials said the prosecutor requested sealing them for 90 more days because of the ongoing investigation.
State police said toxicology reports could be completed in another month.
Investigators also cleared up details about what Lanza was wearing when he shot his way into Sandy Hook. False reports have been circulating saying Lanza was wearing body armor. State police said that is not true and he was wearing a fishing vest, which was light gray with lots of pockets.
State police would not tell Eyewitness News what he was carrying in them.
