CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

A young child is dead after a house fire Friday evening on Cleveland's east side.

The victim's grandmother tells 19 Action News that her 7-year old grandson was upstairs in the two-story home on E. 82nd playing with matches and that's where the fire started.

Firefighters are currently at the home looking into an exact cause.

According to Lt. Larry Gray with the Cleveland Fire Dept., three others had already escaped the burning home when firefighters arrived.

It is unknown if the home had working smoke detectors.

Damage is set at $60,000 dollars.

The name of the victim has not been released.
