CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -
Police are investigating the first murder of 2013. It happened around 2:48 a.m. on New Years Day.
Cleveland Police Officers were called to 10101 Hilgert Avenue for a report of shots fired. When the Fourth District Officers arrived on the scene, they found a man lying on the front porch. He had been shot in the torso.
EMS was notified, responded to the scene, and pronounced the man dead.
Officers say it appears the shooter kicked in the victim's front door and shot him.
The victim's name is not yet being released.
The official cause of death will be determined by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office.
There are no arrests. The Cleveland Division of Police is asking that anyone with information in connection with this incident to contact the Homicide Unit at 216.623.5464.
