BRIMFIELD, OH (WOIO) -
A 20-year old man has been charged with rape against a 12-year old girl.
The Brimfield Police Department arrested Dustin Hayes, of Brimfield, around 5 p.m. Thursday evening.
Late Wednesday, police say officers received information alleging Hayes was involved in a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old female and immediately began investigating the complaint.
Because of that investigation, which investigators say included an interview with Hayes, warrants were issued for Hayes' arrest.
Officers from the Brimfield Police Department located Hayes at a residence in Akron and he has been charged with 8 counts of rape, which are felony one charges.
Hayes was booked at the Brimfield Police Department and then was transported to the Portage County Justice Center pending arraignment.
Additional charges are possible after review by the Portage County Prosecutor's Office.
