A federal administrative law judge has been sentenced for drunk driving--a second time.
Michael Bartko appeared in Rocky River Municipal Court, and he told Judge Brian Hagan, 'Your Honor, what I did was wrong. I clearly was not thinking properly.'
In September, Bay Village police stopped Bartko with a blood alcohol level of .29--nearly four times the legal limit. He'd already been convicted for driving drunk in Portage County in 2006.
For this case, Judge Hagan gave Bartko five days in jail, a little house arrest, a fine, and probation. That includes regular drug and alcohol testing and treatment. Plus, Bartko's license has been suspended for three years. He can only drive for work and appointments.
Bartko just spent time in a treatment facility, and he's now getting out-patient treatment.
As a federal administrative law judge, Bartko handles disputes between doctors and Medicare over insurance money.
His lawyer says he's been on leave while getting treatment.
