AVON LAKE, OH (WOIO) -

A plea Tuesday morning from the driver who struck and killed a construction worker on I-90 last September.

Anthony Rose Jr. was facing a vehicular manslaughter charge.

Construction worker Peter Maglis, 63, of Campbell, Ohio was struck and killed by Rose's Jeep around 9:15 a.m. Sept. 12 on I-90 westbound in the Lear Nagle Road overpass construction zone. All lanes westbound between State Route 83 and Crocker Road were closed for about five hours.

Some bystanders frantically tried to help Maglis by putting a tourniquet on his leg and even attended to his head wound. Maglis was transported by Avon EMS to the hospital, but did not survive his injuries.

Rose is scheduled to be sentenced in Avon Lake Muni court on February 12.
