CSU expected to reduce credit hours needed to graduate

Posted: Updated:
CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Cleveland State University officials will meet on Wednesday, to reduce the number of credit hours needed to graduate.

The academic affairs committee is expected to approve the resolution to reduce the number of credits to 120.

The committee is also expected to reduce the credit hours for general education courses from 4 to 3.

This will save many students time and money.

The full board will then vote in March and it would go into effect with the freshman class in the fall of 2014.

CSU President Ronald Berkman says the measures would help the university improve retention and graduation rates, which will be factor in determining state funding in the next two-year budget.
