CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

This winter's flu bug is worse than last seasons'.  The number of flu related visits to the hospital this winter is more than 20 times what it was last season.

Vaccine supplies are holding steady but its still a good idea to call ahead.

47 states are now reporting widespread influenza activity, up from 41 last week.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that the current vaccine was found to be about 60 percent effective in warding off illness, which means it offers "moderate" protection from the flu, which is particularly severe this season.

This winter's flu season could last another two or three months.  It's still not too late to get a flu shot.
