AVON, OH (WOIO) -

Police in Avon are investigating after an allegation of child abuse at the French Creek YMCA.

The YMCA released the following statement in wake of the investigation.

There has very recently been an allegation of alleged child abuse involving the child of a member at the French Creek Family YMCA. At this time there is no evidence to substantiate that the incident actually occurred in our facility.

The Avon Police Department and Child Protective Services are investigating the matter. Until the investigations are complete, we are not at liberty to discuss the situation further.

Most importantly, we also want to assure you that the safety and security of all our members is our top concern, especially the children which you entrust us to care for. We are assisting the Avon Police Department and representatives of Child Protective Services with their respective investigations.

The French Creek Family YMCA remains a safe haven for you and your families. We value each of you as members and remain committed to developing youth, promoting healthy living and being socially responsible.
