SPRINGFIELD TWP, OH (FOX19) -

Bond was set Friday morning for a man who is accused of driving drunk and causing a six-car crash in Springfield Township.

According to police, Timothy Kessling of Delhi Twp. was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe and towing a recreational vehicle just after 6 p.m. on Thursday evening, headed northbound on Hamilton Avenue at I-275. Kessling failed to brake and hit the back of a Ford Escort.

The impact of the crash forced the Tahoe on top of the Escort, trapping the driver inside.

The male driver was extricated from the car and taken to UC Medical Center, listed in stable condition.

Springfield Twp. Police revealed a total of six cars were involved in the crash, with another driver taken to Mercy Health suffering minor injuries.

Kessling was arrested at the scene and charged with OVI and aggravated vehicular assault. He was in court on Friday morning, where his bond was set at $3,000.

At one point, the northbound lanes of Hamilton Avenue were closed, and only one lane was open on the southbound side.

The accident is currently under investigation by the Springfield Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Springfield Twp. Police at (513) 729-1300.
