SUMMIT COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

A 59-year-old Cuyahoga Falls caretaker accused of stealing tens of thousands from an 87-year-old man.

In July of 2012, the Summit County Sheriff's Office was contacted by personnel from Adult Protective Services regarding a possible financial exploitation involving an elderly victim. The Sheriff's Deputy assigned to Adult Protective Services initiated an investigation into the matter.

Through the investigation, it was determined that the caretaker of an 87-year-old man had stolen approximately $75,000 over a 1½ year period. The funds were used to make over 130 purchases of gemstones from California.

On January 17, Deborah Ramoz of Cuyahoga Falls was arrested for Theft from the Elderly. She was booked into the Summit County Jail.

On January 18, a search warrant was executed at Ramoz's Cuyahoga Falls residence. Numerous containers of gemstones were seized from the residence.
