CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

A father pleads not guilty Tuesday morning to the charges of child endangering and having weapons under disability, after his 6-year-old daughter accidentally kills herself with his gun.

The shooting happened on Saturday afternoon at Edmund Benson's home on East 116th.

Cleveland Police Officers say Nevaeh Benson apparently shot herself in the head, while playing with her dad's gun. The gun was underneath a bed.

The Medical Examiner confirms that little Nevaeh died from a gunshot wound to the head, but said the manner is still under investigation, so they're not saying if she shot herself yet.

Cleveland EMS rushed the young child to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, where she died.

Benson, 23, was arrested on Saturday. In court Tuesday morning, the judge set Benson's bond at $10,000.

Benson is a convicted felon and was not even allowed to possess a gun.
