Fire, explosion at OH packaging plant

SIDNEY, OH (WTOL) - An Ohio manufacturing business is badly damaged and two people are in the hospital after an explosion at the facility Friday night.

Residents nearby reported hearing a loud noise and feeling their homes shake.

Walls were blown out at the Protecpac building.

According to Deputy Fire Chief Ron Wolfe, the company uses isobutane to expand plastic in making a foam product used in packaging.

Wolfe said fire investigators are still investigating the cause of the explosion.

Two worker were sent to the hospital. Their injuries are not considered to be life threatening.

A third worker declined medical treatment.
