Eastside businessman shot while closing up

Posted: Updated:
CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Its not business as usual at Woodland Place after last night's shooting.

The 37-year-old man who runs the cosmetic shop, Beauty of Color, was shot in the hip by a masked gunman just after he closed up shop at 9:15 p.m. Friday night.

"I really think robbery was the motive."  The manager of the store next door apparently checked on the victim this morning.  "As far as I've seen this morning, he's doing pretty good."

A co-worker gives a character testimony of sorts on the 37-year-old victim, "He's a nice man, happy go lucky, help any one if he can."

Four businesses make up this little strip mall at Woodland and East 79th and there's the possibility the masked gunman and his driver had checked the stores before looking for an opportunity to steal or rob.

Although the stores remain on the regular schedules after the shooting, there is an uneasy feeling among both workers and shoppers here.

People in the area say that they saw the van parked in the neighborhood and they want the senselessness to end.
