The Browns named Bobby Babich as their assistant defensive backs coach and Daron Roberts as their defensive quality control coach.

In addition, Shawn Mennenga (special teams assistant) will be retained from last year's staff.

"Shawn and Chris (Tabor) have a great chemistry and I felt it was important to keep that continuity on special teams," said Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski. "I got to know Bobby well during our time together in Carolina and see him as an outstanding young coach. Daron is an extremely bright individual and will greatly support our defensive staff. I know all three of them will be tremendous assets to the Browns."

Babich spent the past two seasons with the Carolina Panthers as a defensive assistant (2012) and administrative assistant for the coaching staff (2011). Prior to joining the Panthers, he served as secondary coach at Eastern Illinois University from 2007-10. Originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Babich began his coaching career in 2006 as a graduate assistant at Kent State University, where he worked with future NFL Draft picks Usama Young and Jack Williams.  

Roberts spent the past two seasons at West Virginia University, first coaching the wide receivers/special teams returners (2011) and then the cornerbacks (2012). Prior to West Virginia, Roberts spent two seasons (2009-10) as the Detroit Lions' assistant secondary coach. In 2009, the Lions finished fifth in the NFL with 21 interceptions. Prior to Detroit, Roberts spent two seasons (2007-08) with the Kansas City Chiefs. He was a volunteer coach in 2007 and was hired as defensive quality control assistant in 2008.  

Mennenga came to the Browns, along with special teams coordinator Chris Tabor, in 2011.
