OREGON, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Nine fire crews were dispatched to a fire at the Toledo Refining Company in Oregon early Thursday.

The fire has now been extinguished, and the Toledo Department of Environmental Services is monitoring air quality. There were no injuries.

Neighbors say they heard what sounded like an explosion about 11:50 p.m. at the refinery located on Woodville Road. One man said he heard and felt the explosive sound, and then sirens in the plant began to blare.

Personnel from the Toledo Refining Company initially responded. Just after midnight, Oregon fire crews were dispatched to what was described as a 3-alarm fire at that point. Thick smoke could be seen coming from the facility.

Officials with the plant say the fire began in the fluid catalytic cracker, which is a major gasoline producing unit. The cause is still under investigation.
