A phone call to a Canton area radio station made by Kellie Baker, a 30-year-old woman with Down Syndrome, was the source of amusement for one disc jockey at WDJQ.
That dj, Mo is now suspended from the airwaves and has apologized on-air to Baker.
Baker's family says she called the radio station by mistake.
Listeners of the radio show could hear Kellie repeatedly trying to end the call but Mo keeps her on the air.
His mocking continues with, "You don't know who Mo is? Ok, so I can laugh at you and you won't know who to call to say you're offended. Ha Ha. Very good."
Statement from Q92
Mo apologized to Ms. Baker and her family on-air today at 2:00, and has been suspended from the station. To hear the full audio apology, please log onto the station's home page at www.q92radio.com or the station's Facebook page at facebook.com/q92radio. Mo will also be apologizing to Ms. Baker at her home, per her family's request.
Additionally, Q92 is participating in a coordinated collaboration with the Stark and Tuscarawas County's Boards of Developmental Disabilities for a formal and on-going awareness campaign to focus on the abilities, strengths, and talents of people who are developmentally disabled. This campaign is projected to launch in March, which is developmental disabilities awareness month. Q92 is looking forward to working with these organizations and engaging its listeners regarding this important community issue.
