Man shot near Lagrange and Mettler in north Toledo

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Toledo police are trying to figure out who shot a man Friday morning and then dumped him in north Toledo.

Shortly after 8:30 a.m., a driver saw a man lying in the road at the intersection of Lagrange and Mettler. The driver asked if he was okay, and when he found out the victim had been shot, the driver moved him to the sidewalk and called police.

Police responded to the call and found Marcus Buchanant, from Florida, with at least one gunshot wound to the abdomen. Buchanant was taken to a local hospital, where he underwent surgery and is expected to survive.

Police said Buchanant was unresponsive when asked who shot him at the scene, and that no obvious evidence was found there. They believe he was shot somewhere else and then dropped off, but the location where he was found may still provide some clues.

"He was found not too far away from one of our sky cop cameras," Sgt. Joe Heffernan said. "We're reviewing that data right now."

A report lists Buchanant's address as the Cherry Street Mission.

Anyone with information on what may have happened is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111.
