PARMA, OH (WOIO) -

Parma Firefighters were called to a house on Bertha Avenue just before 4 a.m. Saturday morning.

Crews were able to contain the fire to a first floor bedroom.

No one was home at the time of the fire, but there were four dogs in the house.  All of them survived.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but firefighters report that the home had been heating using space heaters after the gas was shut off to the house weeks ago.

Eighteen firefighters from Parma along with five from Parma Heights responded.  Damage was estimated at around $20,000.

One firefighter sustained minor injuries.
