CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

A Cleveland councilman is pushing for tough new measures for unruly passengers on RTA busses.

Councilman Kevin Conwell wants to introduce legislation Monday night at the City Council meeting.

There have been 25 assaults involving RTA bus drivers recently, and the city wants to protect drivers.

Conwell wants tougher legislation on buses, and is proposing first degree misdemeanors against passengers who attack drivers or damage property. If convicted, there would be a $1,000 fine and six months in jail

In addition, RTA wants to spend $2M dollars to install cameras in all city buses.
