BROOK PARK, OH (WOIO) -
We are all getting hammered, again, at the pump. Gasoline prices jumped about eighteen cents a gallon in the past week, and almost twenty five cents a gallon from a month ago.
"I contain how I travel now, I only go when I have to go, on a fixed income you can't be running all over the country on these prices," said Bud Behney of Brook Park.
Behney is a senior citizen and a veteran of the Korean War. Because he is on a fixed income, any change in his expenses is a big problem.
"They keep taking money out of your social security check and giving you less," Behney said. "But you have to survive and you learn to survive around here."
The latest excuse for rising prices, refineries are shutting down for maintenance as they begin to switch production lines to refine summer blends of gasoline.
"I bought the car I have for the gas mileage, as far as trips, I don't take any, not right now, said Bud Scalisi as he pumped gas at $3.69 a gallon into his car.
Anthony Parkins, of Brook Park, is going on a trip but figured, at these prices, he was better off flying, "We were going to drive but we decided it's just as cheap to fly anymore as it is to drive."
Some analysts expect prices to spike around $3.90 a gallon this year.
