CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Cleveland Police is currently investigating a motor vehicle hit skip which occurred on Wednesday, February 06, 2013 at approximately 1:00pm in the area of 6600 Lorain Avenue.

The current information gathered reveals that a 59 year old female was getting in her car which was parked near 6600 Lorain Avenue when she was struck by the suspect vehicle, throwing her under another vehicle. 

The victim's purse was caught on the side of the suspect's vehicle mirror and the suspect vehicle fled the scene.  The victim's son was in the vicinity and witnessed the incident.  After calling for medical assistance for his mother and police, he went in search for the suspect vehicle. 

The suspect vehicle was located in the parking lot of the Home Depot plaza at West 117th and Lorain Avenue.  The driver of the vehicle was located in that area a short time later.  The suspect, Raymond Stewart Jr., 26, was placed under arrest and conveyed to Fairview Hospital for treatment of injuries.  The victim was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment of injuries. 

As a result of this incident, an Aggravated Vehicular Assault, Possession of Criminal Tools arrest was made.

An investigation is underway by the Cleveland Division of Police Accident Investigation Unit.
