CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -
Cuyahoga County Health officials say they have had five additional flu-related deaths since January 26th.
There are now 15 deaths for this flu season in Cuyahoga County.
Since October, nearly 700 people in Cuyahoga County have been admitted to hospitals with flu associated symptoms. That is more than 4 times the number of people who were admitted during last year's flu season.
"It's high and it's also earlier than expected. Typically, we would normally see, if there were to be deaths from flu, to be in the peak season between mid-February and mid-March," said Richard Stacklin Cuyahoga County Board of Health Researcher.
Stacklin also said it is not too late to get a flu shot and he stresses to wash your hands often, assume the flu virus is in the very places everyone else's hands have been.
