
Indians sign Mike Aviles through 2014The Indians signed infielder Mike Aviles to a two-year contract with a club option for the 2015 season.
Aviles, 31, is entering his first season with Cleveland after being acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays last November 3 along with Yan Gomes in exchange for reliever Esmil Rogers.
The New York City native spent the 2012 season with the Boston Red Sox, hitting .250 with 28 doubles, 13 homers and 60 RBI's in 136 games. He set career-highs in doubles, homers, RBI's and tied career-bests in extra-base hits and steals.
The 5-year Major League veteran's 2012 totals included a .286 mark against left-handed pitching.
