The Summit County woman who pretended to be a veterinarian at C & D Animal Hospital in Akron remains behind bars. Brandi Tomko plead not guilty in court Monday and the judge continued her $100,000 bond.
SUMMIT COUNTY (WOIO) -

A Summit County judge announced a verdict Friday morning in the trial for a woman accused of pretending to be a veterinarian.

Brandi Tomko was found guilty of ID fraud, cruelty to animals, drug possession, forgery and practicing without a license. She will be sentenced on March 15.

Tomko pretended to be a vet at C & D Animal Hospital in Akron. Police say Tomko wrote prescriptions and even performed surgery on animals, but she is not listed as a licensed veterinarian or vet tech.

Tomko was left in charge of the animal hospital when the owner left the state for a while. She quickly ran the business into the ground, and when she stopped paying the legitimate veterinarians who worked there, they quit.

According to police, Tomko couldn't let the doors close because she needed the cash for drugs.
