Cavaliers Host Athletes With Special Needs

Posted: Updated:

CLEVELAND — A crowd of nearly 200 people will be joining Cavs fans at Quicken Loans Arena on Saturday to watch the Cavaliers play the Denver Nuggets.  This unique group includes the kids and adults of the Everyone Wins Basketball Team; a customized program for individuals with special needs.  These players recently completed their first season in which they competed alongside local high school teams in adaptive basketball games. These athletes represent a variety of cognitive and physical disabilities and found the Everyone Wins program a perfect home for the basketball season as this program welcomes participants of all needs.

At halftime the Everyone Wins players will have the opportunity to walk on the court and high five the Cavaliers as they return from the locker room.  For many of the Everyone Wins athletes, this will be their first ever NBA basketball game.  Given the chance to meet their favorite players at halftime will be a once in a lifetime kind of experience for the team and will undoubtedly leave a permanent impact on all families participating.  The enthusiasm of these kids and adults, while many times overlooked by their typically functioning peers, is truly incredible to see.
