CONCORD TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) -

The son of a woman who takes care of an 80-year old Concord Township woman has been charged with burglary.

Carol Prideaux told police that family heirlooms, a silver tea pot and a sterling silver cigarette case from circa 1700's, had been taken from her home.

An investigation led police to Michael Bertone. Michael is the son of Shirley Bertone, one of Carol's caretakers.

Cops say Michael admitted during two separate interviews, one voluntary and one under Miranda, to stealing the items from the home. He also admitted to stealing jewelry and other silver flatware from the residence, and had sold it to Ohio Gold and Coin on Richmond Street.

Michael indicated that he had taken these items about one and a half weeks prior to selling them, which he had done on January 31, 2013.

Michael stated that he stole the items when he was in the house with his mother when she was taking care of Carol.

Michael was arrested and is being held in the Lake County Jail.
