BARBERTON, OH (WOIO) -

Barberton Police have arrested three men and a woman in connection with a homicide investigation in their city.

Police say detectives became aware of a homicide that happened in the 1800 block of W. Turkeyfoot Lake Road in the beginning of January.

After investigating, police executed several search warrants and arrested John Yanik, 52 of Barberton, Stephen Batdorf, 46 of Akron and Paul Wright, 46 of Akron and Trisha Copley, 22 of Barberton.

Investigators located the body of John P. Smith, 36 of North Canton in the Conotton Creek on Somerdale Road in Tuscarawas County on February 8.

Yanik has been charged with the murder, and all remaining defendants are charged with tampering with evidence.

All are being held in the Summit County Jail on $250,000 dollar bond.
