CLEVELAND, OH -

Cleveland Police have released the results of an internal investigation, saying a sergeant was suspended for not taking the report of a woman in a domestic violence case.

Last summer, Lydia Ruiz and her attorney went to the second district police station saying she had received threats on Facebook from an ex, and she already had a domestic violence case against him.

An investigation revealed the officer would not take a new report.

Hours later, Ruiz ended up with a broken jaw. Cops say she was hit in the face by Dwayne Canterbury.

Now we've learned Sergeant William Lally was suspended for three days, and two more suspensions could be handed out later.

Canterbury recently went to prison for a year as punishment for the beating.

Lydia tells 19 Action News, she just wants every report to be taken seriously all the time.
